What is Diamond Micron Powder? What's the use?
Jul 26, 2022
Diamond Micron Powder usually refers to diamond particles with a particle size between 0.1 and 54 μm, and those smaller than 5 μm are also called fine powder.

There are three specific uses of diamond micropower:
One is as a grinding paste, used to grind and polish hard and brittle materials such as cemented carbide, ceramics, gemstones; the other is to synthesize poly crystalline diamond; the third is to electroplate on the surface of precision wear-resistant devices (bearings, etc.) to improve surface properties.
Diamond has high strength and good wear resistance, with a Moths' hardness of 10 and a microhardness of 10000 kg/mm2. The microhardness is 1000 times higher than that of quartz and 150 times higher than that of corundum.
Therefore, as a super-hard abrasive, diamond micropowder has unparalleled grinding ability of other products, and is highly valued by industrialized countries
Classification of Diamond Micron Powder
(1) According to the raw material diamond strength, it can be divided into the following two types: high-strength diamond powder and low-strength diamond powder.
Among them, the high-strength diamond micropowder is produced by using high-strength diamond as the raw material. The single particle of the micropowder has high strength,
low internal impurity content and low magnetic properties; the low-strength diamond micropowder is made of low-strength diamond as the raw material, and the product has good self-sharpening.
(2) According to the crystal structure, it can be divided into single crystal diamond powder and polycrystalline diamond powder. Single crystal diamond micropowder is produced by artificial diamond single crystal after crushing and shaping treatment, and is produced by a special process of superhard material.
Its particles retain the single crystal characteristics of single crystal diamond and have a cleavage plane. The surface is broken; the polycrystalline diamond powder is made of graphite by directional blasting method, and its particles are formed by the combination of diamond grains through unsaturated bonds, the interior is isotropic without cleavage surface, and has high toughness
(3) According to the application field, it can be divided into diamond tools and functional materials. The terminal application field of diamond tools is in the fields of clean energy, consumer electronics, semiconductors, ceramic stone, oil and gas exploration, geological drilling, machining and other fields. Functional materials are used in aerospace , defense industry, biomedicine and other high-tech fields
Application areas of Diamond Micron Powder
With the in-depth research on diamond properties, diamond micropowder has been used more and more in medical equipment, pharmaceutical research, etc., providing a new growth point for the diamond micropowder market.
With the technological upgrading of traditional processing fields such as stone, ceramics, glass, refractory materials, gemstones, and machining and the continuous enhancement of environmental protection concepts, the use of new sawing tools, abrasive tools, drilling tools, and wire drawing tools will continue to increase. Demand will continue to increase
(1) Photovoltaic industry: Diamond Micron Powder is the core material for the production of diamond wire saws, and is used in silicon-based cell slicing, silicon rod slicing, silicon rod truncation and other fields.
(2) Consumer electronics: The rapid development of technologies such as 5G and the Internet of Things requires more complex materials and fine processing. Diamond Micron Powder and products can provide high-quality precision surface treatment for metals, ceramics and brittle materials.
(3) Semiconductor: The third-generation semiconductor silicon carbide (SIC) material has high hardness, and diamond powder or related products need to be processed in several production links such as silicon carbide (SIC) crystal cutting, wafer grinding, and wafer polishing.
(4) Machinery industry: The emerging processing field requires faster processing speed, higher processing accuracy and more stable processing performance, which has spawned a number of new diamond tools, such as diamond wire saws, high-precision diamond grinding wheels and diamond ultra-high Thin dicing, etc.
